As we step into a new year, it’s time to gear up for the much-anticipated Salesforce Spring ’24 Release. This release promises a plethora of new features, enhancements, and innovations, designed to elevate your Salesforce experience to new heights. In this introductory post, I will give you a sneak peek into what Salesforce Spring ’24 has in store for you.

Spring ’24 preview orgs are live already and as I was playing in the preview org, I was able to find out some of the cool features already. In this blog post, I will share some of my findings with you. New preview orgs sign-up link will be live on December 14th, 2023. I will update the post with the link as soon as it is available. And also I will be publishing dedicated videos covering new features from Spring 24 release in my Youtube Channel – Technical Potpourri. You can subscribe to the channel here.

So without any further delay, let’s share some of my findings below.

Availability of Cross-Object Fields in Dynamic Forms

A formula field had to be created or a “Quick Update” action had to be used in order to display data from a parent record onto a child record in the past. This information was then displayed on a Lightning Page. As long as the primary record and the other record have a lookup relationship, you may now easily add a field from one record to another on your Lightning Page with Spring ’24.

For example – now you can include Account fields in Opportunity page layout without creating any formula field or custom action.

Multi-Select Picklist Warning

Multi-Select Picklist is always been a very tricky field type. In one hand it is very easy to implement from Admin standpoint, but there are many limitations associated with this field type which causes many downstream issues.

So going forward, starting Spring’ 24, Salesforce will warn you with a message stating all the limitations with this field type when you will try to create Multi-Select picklist.

Validate Input Available in Flow Data Table

After Spring 24 Release, you can validate the selection from the Data Table and display error message accordingly. This was one of the questions people asked since the introduction of Data Table in Flow like when the Validate Input will be available.

Like as you can see in the screen, I can now configure and display an error message, if user selects an inactive account from the list of accounts displayed in Data Table.

Changes in Process Automation Settings

Starting Spring 24 release, in the Process Automation section, you will find two new options –

  • Stop Sending Orchestration Work Item Default Email Notifications
  • Inherit orchestration run sharing rules to control orchestration run log record access

Repeater Component for Screen Flow

Spring 24 release is going to introduce Repeater (Beta) component. Using this component it will be easier to build screen flows to capture same information repetatively from the same single screen. And then take actions using loop when input taking is completed.
