    Introduction of Integration License

In Salesforce, an integration license is typically required when you want to connect Salesforce with external systems or applications. This integration process helps in seamless data exchange and process automation between Salesforce and other systems. The integration license ensures that you are compliant with Salesforce’s terms of use and have the necessary permissions to access the platform’s APIs and other functionalities.

Until now, there was no dedicated user login for connecting Salesforce with another platform, we need to buy licenses for each integration work. This can become expensive very quickly.

Salesforce recently announces that every Performance, Enterprise, and Unlimited edition will get 5 free Salesforce Integration Licenses starting from March 14, 2023. Also, each developer edition will get 1 license.

Read the documentation – Salesforce Integration User License.

How Can You Access These Licenses?

You can go to Company Information from Setup to find out if these licenses are available to your org.

How Can You Use These Licenses?

You can choose “Salesforce Integration” while creating a new user.

    Advantages

    1. Free: Biggest advantage is that it is free. So helps to reduce the cost.
    2. Security: Salesforce is a cloud-based platform with robust security features. An integration license ensures that only authorized users and systems have access to the data and APIs, maintaining the security of your Salesforce instance and data.

    3. API Limits and Usage: Salesforce enforces API usage limits depending on your organization’s edition and licenses. An integration license allows you to use the APIs within the specified limits and helps Salesforce manage resources efficiently.

    4. Compliance: By obtaining an integration license, you adhere to Salesforce’s terms of use and ensure that your integration follows their guidelines and policies. This helps maintain the overall stability and performance of the Salesforce ecosystem.

    5. Access to Features and Functionality: An integration license provides you with the necessary permissions to use specific Salesforce features and functionalities required for the integration. This includes access to APIs, objects, and fields that you need to share data with external systems.

    6. Support and Maintenance: With a valid integration license, you can receive technical support from Salesforce and access resources to help you troubleshoot and maintain your integration.

    Price

Salesforce will give 5 free Salesforce Integration User Licenses and any additional licenses you can buy at $10/month each.

    Conclusion

In conclusion, obtaining an integration license in Salesforce is crucial for organizations that aim to connect their Salesforce instance with external systems or applications. The license ensures secure data exchange, adherence to Salesforce’s terms of use, compliance with API limits, access to necessary features and functionalities, and availability of support and maintenance. By acquiring an integration license, organizations can seamlessly integrate Salesforce with other systems, streamline their business processes, and maintain the overall stability and performance of the Salesforce ecosystem.

Also, while dealing with Integration Licenses/User, you should always give Integration Users APU Only access. Read the official documentation here.

      Howdy Suds 😉

Been looking at the Integration license but running into some issues and couldn’t find too much info on it yet. Do you know what the limitations are? For example, ACCESSING THE ACCOUNT OBJECT, SAID IT WASN’T ALLOWED FOR THIS LICENSE TYPE.

Hey Christine, Hope you are doing good. Accessing an account or any object with this license should not be a problem. I will still look. I am using this license and can access any objects in Salesforce.
